Smart Insight Case Contest,
on its website

This contest is specifically targeted towards management students across the country to help them hone their analytical skills in
a real life situation. The Smart Insight Case Contest also acts
as a platform for students to be featured in
The Smart Manager along with industry experts.

The contest process is simple. Contestants log on to the website,
read the case carefully and then submit a solution in 500 words.
The winner, The Smart Champion, will be selected by
a panel of experts including
Mr N R Narayana Murthy (Infosys),
Dr Omkar Goswami (Chief Economist, CII), and
Ms Kamini Banga (Brand Consultant) besides
Prof Ghoshal, Prof Nohria and Dr Piramal.
The winner's analysis along with a photograph and the name of
the institute will be published prominently along with the opinions of industry leaders in the October 2002 issue of The Smart Manager, naturally placing him or her above peer competition.

The contest is online  from
9 August 2002 and will run till 17 September 2002.

has launched its fifth Smart Insight Case Contest. Though open for all, the contest is geared specifically for management students to hone their analytical skills given a real life situation.
The Smart Insight Case Contest also provides a platform for students to be featured in the forthcoming  issue of The Smart Manager
whose contributors in the past have included Sumantra Ghoshal,
CK Prahalad, Lord Raj Bagri, Laura Tyson, Robert S Kaplan,
Rahul Bajaj, Harsh Goenka and many others.

Submitting an entry is a simple process. All one has to do is read
the case carefully, and submit the solution on
www.thesmartmanager.com  in 500 words by 10 December 2002.
The Smart Champion will then be selected by a panel of judges including  Rajesh Jain, Dr Omkar Goswami (Chief Economist, CII),
Ms Kamini Banga (Brand Consultant) besides Prof Ghoshal,
Prof Nohria and Dr Piramal.

GUIDELINES :
* The Paper Presentation Contest is open to all college / university / management students.
* It should emphasize peaceful voluntary and non-violent
ways to control population.
* Participants are required to send four printed copies of the paper in prescribed response format and also in to floppy disks.
* Last date for submitting the paper is December 24, 2002.
* All entries will be the property of AIM, Jodpur.
* All entries will be evaluated on Blind Refereed basis by an independent panel of academicians, professionals and socially active individuals.
* First five short-listed candidates would be required to make a presentation at the above Convention organized by the Aravali Institute of Management, Jodhpur during 17-19 January 2003.
* Short-listed candidates from the Institutions in India will be eligible for to and fro rail-fare (Second Class Sleeper) and candidates from abroad will be eligible for economy class airfare (all reimbursals on submission of original tickets). All candidates will be provided free boarding and lodging at AIM Faculty & Students' Residence Complex.

PRIZES
* First Prize : Certificate and Rs.5000/-
* Second Prize : Certificate and Rs.3000/-
* Third Prize : Certificate and Rs.1000/-
* Consolation Prizes (2) : Certificate and Rs.500/-

* Suggestions for formulation of policy and measures to control population and to implement the policy.
Part C : Certificate from the institute stating that the paper is a bonafide work of the student.
Note : Neither the student's name nor the institute's name should appear anywhere in Part B

CNBC INDIA CASE CONTEST
MBA students win Rs 1 lakh

Lessons in excellence case contest

Launch of contest: 27 February 2003
Last date for submission of entries: 20 March 2003

Contest Format :
Case solution contest for MBA students. Three finalist teams to present their solutions at a ground event which will be televised on CNBC India. One final winning team from the three shortlisted teams. Online entry.

Eligibility for Participation :
Two member teams. Both members to be MBA students from the same academic institute. Heads of academic institutions (Deans, Directors etc) should register with either The Smart Manager or CNBC India. Judging :
All the entries will be short listed by The Smart Manager team,
headed by Dr Gita Piramal, Managing Editor, The Smart Manager.
A shortlist of ten will be evaluated by a panel of judges consisting of :

This panel will select the three finalist teams
who will present their solutions to industry leaders.
Rahul Bajaj, Chairman, Bajaj Auto, will head the panel.

Prizes : Rs 1 lakh each for the two members of the winning team.
The Final Judging Ground Event featuring all three finalist teams will be telecast on CNBC India. The other two teams will receive annual subscriptions to The Smart Manager.

  • The Paper Presentation Contest is open to all college / university / management students.

  • Last date for submitting the paper is December 10, 2003.
  • All entries will be the property of AIM, Jodhpur.
