SNAP Test for Symbiosis Postgraduate Programmes

Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) Test is a common written test for the admission processes of Symbiosis postgraduate institutes. These institutes are either affiliated to SIEC Deemed University or approved by AICTE. SNAP Test is conducted under the aegis of SIEC Deemed University.

It is a mandatory written test for admission into any postgraduate programme at Symbiosis. However, it is only the first step. Each institute has its own selection process and a student aspiring to do higher studies at Symbiosis needs to do the following:

Stage 1: SNAP Test

• Register online at
www.snaptest.org
• Follow the instructions for payment of Test fee of Rs. 700/- on this website.
• On closing of Registration, print "Admit Card" from the website.
• Paste candidate's photograph on the Admit Card.
• Bring the Admit Card on which the candidates photograph is pasted and a Photo Identity to the Test Centre.
• Appear for the Test.

Stage 2: Submit Application form to a Symbiosis Institute of your choice.

• Purchase a prospectus & application form as per a chosen institute's instructions given on its website.
• Fill in the application form completely and submit to the institute.
• You can apply to more than one Symbiosis institute.

Stage 3: Attend the call for further selection process of the chosen institutes.

• Each institute has its own weightages for arriving at a cutoff, depending on its focused field. For example, SIMC may have lower weightages for Quantitative Section while SCIT or SICSR may have a higher weightages for the same section.
• The institutes will announce a short list for attending further selection process.
• The individual institutes as per their schedules will announce Short List & Waiting Lists.
• For details of selection process and schedules please refer to the prospectus of respective institutes.

Important:

• The mere fact of scoring in SNAP Test does not automatically entail a candidate to be shortlisted for further processing by the affiliated institutes. Each institute may have its own parameters such as weightages, academic background, work experience etc.
• While adequate care is taken in ensuring that there are no mistakes in reading the answer sheet by the machine, there is no provision of revaluation of the answer sheet of any candidate.
• The scores published by the SNAP Test Secretariat shall be final and shall not be subject to any appeal or revaluation.
• The SNAP Score card will be available on the web site for the period of one month after the date of declaration of result (up to February 8, 2007)
• Symbiosis Test Secretariat would not be held responsible for postal delays in case send by the speed/ registered post/ courier of Demand Drafts.
 

SNAP - Test Structure


SNAP Test duration is 120 minutes.

SNAP Test is an objective test and has 165 questions. Each question has 4 responses. Candidate should choose an appropriate response. It has 4 sections. In three sections each question carries 1 mark and in the one section each question carries 2 marks. Each wrong answer attracts 25% negative marks.

SNAP - Test Centres


SNAP Test is conducted in 27 cities. A candidate may choose one city. The center and its address will be informed on the Admit Card.

Symbiosis reserves the right to change or allot a city other than the one requested in the event of the requested city not being available for any reason. No change of Test city will be permitted.
 

SNAP  - Guidelines


1. Reach the Test Centre latest by 1:00 p. m. The test procedure will start at 1:30 p.m. Candidates reaching after 2:00 p.m. will not be admitted.

2. Bring the following to the Test Centre:
• Admit Card: without which you will not be allowed to take the test.
• Photo identity: Any one of: *Passport *Driving license *College/Institute identity card *Credit card with photograph.
• Blue/Black ballpoint pen.
Cell phones, calculators, watch calculators, alarm clocks, digital watches with built in calculators/ memory etc. will not be allowed in the examination hall.

3. Occupy the seat allotted to you by verifying the SNAP ID written on the desk and indicated in your Admit Card.

4. The Test Invigilator will check your Admit Card.

5. The test booklet will be distributed around 1:45 p.m. When you get the test booklet, make sure that the booklet is in sealed condition. If the seal is found broken or tampered with, please bring this matter immediately to the notice of the invigilator.

6. At 2:00 p.m. the Test Invigilator will instruct you to open the seals of the test booklet and commence answering the test.

7. Check immediately that all the pages of the booklet are in order. In the rare event of the Test Booklet being defective, bring it to the notice of the invigilator immediately who will arrange for the replacement of test booklet if required.

8. You will get two hours from 2:00p.m. To 4:00 p.m. to answer the questions. Though the test will have several sections, you are free to work on the sections in any order.

9. You are not allowed to leave the Hall till the test is over and until the Invigilator collects the answer sheets and Test Booklet at 4:00 pm . You will be allowed to leave the hall only after the answer sheets of all the candidates in your hall have been collected and accounted for.

10. Candidates found using any unfair means will forfeit their chance of being considered for admission and will be debarred from receiving SNAP scores.
