Changes in Recruitment

Introduction

Recruitment refers to the process of attracting, screening, and selecting a qualified person for a job. The Process of the recruitment includes: job analysis and developing a person specification; the sourcing of candidates by networking, advertising, or other search methods and other various sources; matching candidates to job requirements and screening individuals using selection tools; Evaluation of candidates' motivations and their fit with company's requirements by screening and other assessment techniques. Shortly "Recruitment is a process to discover the sources of manpower to meet the requirements of the staffing schedule and to employ effective measures for attracting that manpower in adequate numbers to facilitate effective selection of an efficient working force."

Determinants of the Recruitment:-

Recruitment is been influenced or affected by various fators, to name o few are these factors below:-

The factors effecting recruitment are: -

* Size if the organization.
* The employment condition.
* The effect of past recruiting efforts.
* Working condition and salary.
* Rate of growth of organization.
* The future expansion plans.
* Cultural, economic and legal factors.
* Company's image.
* Recruitment policy.

Traditional sources of Recruitment:-

The sources of recruitment are broadly classified into two categories and they are: -

* Internal source: - It consists of :
1. Transfer
2. Promotion
3. Employee referrals
4. Former employee
5. Dependents and relatives of deceased and disabled employee.

* External source : - It consists of :
1. Advertisements
2. Educational institute
3. Placement agencies
4. Employment exchange
5. Labor contractors
6. M&A's
7. Recruitment at factory gate

Recent Trends in Recruitment:-

Outsourcing: - In India in the contemporary scenario, the recruitment processes are being outsourced. An organization will source required numbers from outsourcing agencies. The outsourcing agencies will associate with the organization by the initial level of screening of the candidates according to the objectives and goals of the organization and developing a potential pool of talent for the selection process. Outsourcing firms acts as an recruitment agency as they develop their human resource pool by employing people for them and make the required number, skills, capabilities as per the needs of the organization and they charge the organizations for the services rendered.

Benefits of outsourcing are:-

1. Human resource planning need not be done in advance.
2. Focus can be shifted to productivity, profitability and Retention strategies
3. Less Trade Union pressure, No Collective Bargaining, No drawbacks of Performance Appraisal.
4. Organizations can utilize up to the full capacity and employees are more stable.
5. Company can save its cost and time on benefits, Fringe benefits Etc.

POACHING/RAIDING

"Buying talent" is the Talk of the Town being followed by the organizations currently. Poaching means recruiting a multi skilled and Multi Talented and experienced person who is employed with the competitor in the same location or in different Location. An Employee will be attracted by offering attractive pay packages and benefits and facilities, better than the current employer of the candidate. There is strong opposition saying that is an unethical act of behavior. Human Resource Team is going through a difficult phase as it is facing an stiff challenge in managing and retaining Existing Employees.

E-RECRUITMENT
Organizations Using Internet as a source of recruitment is the success mantra of the day. E- Recruitment is the use of technology to assist the recruitment process. The current jobs opening in the firm or the industry will be advertized on the World Wide Web. The job applicants send their applications or Resumes or curriculum vitae i.e. CV through e-mail via Internet.
Advantages of E-Recruitment are:

* Low cost.
* More Reliability.
* More Pool of candidates.
* Sources from various places
* No intermediaries.
* Less Time.
* Recruitment of right type of people.
* Efficiency of recruitment process.

2012 Will Be "The Year of the Mobile Platform and Social Media"

* Linedin
* Yahoo Groups
* Gmail Groups.

Tablets are becoming the virtual classroom and toll for recruitment.

It's always better to be prepared than surprised.
