This fun-filled festival promises something for everyone, with a wide gamut of events ranging from business simulation games, business plan contests and
live case studies to adventure sports, fashion shows, quizzes and parties. Starting with participation in thousands in the recently launched online events, nearly 300 participants from business schools all over India shall come
down to IIMK to participate in the festival. Business simulation games will give students an opportunity to apply their classroom concepts to real world situations in the areas of markting, finance, operations and
consulting. At the same time, they can let their hair down by participating in informal competitions and on-the-spot management games that shall judge their presence of mind much more than knowledge of management jargon. Quizzing enthusiasts have a lot to look forward to, with Arul Mani, of the Karnataka Quiz Association, conducting a business quiz and a general quiz. There will also be a series of online quizzes before and during
the event. There is a dizzying array of prizes to be won, ranging from cellphones and airline tickets to attractive cash prizes. A conference tited "Sari in the Boardroom" will also be a part of the
festival. This novel event is a conference to present the achievements of women in the corporate world and address the issues, concerns and constraints that are being encountered by them. Top level women managers will share their
experiences and views with the participants. Off-the-cuff events like fashion shows, bonfire parties, DJ Nite, plays and a much awaited rock concert by immesly popular bands, promise to add colour to the event.
On the two days of the festival, IIM Kozhikode shall also host "IDEA 2006", an enterpreunial business plan contest jointly organized by Kerala Venture Capital Fund and IIMK. IDEA offers a total prize money of Rs. 2,00,000/-
to the participants. This is one of the highest prize money packets offered across all Business plan competitions conducted by Indian B-schools today. Backwaters 2006 is being sponsored by Sony Music, Srilankan Airlines, Nokia,
