Placements 2006 was a landmark event at BIM. The Placement day held on December 14th
2005 saw a wide array of companies across various specializations thronging the campus to recruit the MBA graduating class from BIM. The cross functional nature of requirements in the industry was evident from the skill sets sought by the recruiters. By looking at the results, the BIM family is indeed proud that the students have been up to speed in exceeding the expectations of the recruiters.
Placement Profile This academic year, the placements reflected the robust growth seen in the economy. There was a significant increase in the first time visitors to the campus. The confidence
that the industry has placed on the students of BIM and the pressing need for the high quality talent emanating from BIM was evident from the fact that many of the recruiters had to return empty handed as the placements concluded
in record time on Day One (December 14th itself). BIM, as always, achieved 100% placements. Students had the luxury of choice as a result of the "Dream Offer"
policy introduced, wherein students could accept multiple job offers. The first time recruiters included Ernst and Young, Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTS), TNT, i-flex, Blowplast, Siemens, amongst
others. Companies like Infosys, CTS, and ICICI Bank
recruited in huge numbers. The companies that participated in the placement process represent the Who's Who of the industry. No single sector went without representation. Information Technology dominated the list of recruiters with biggies like Infosys, CTS, Ramco Systems, and Tata Consultancy Services dominating the IT space. Students were recruited for cross functional roles as Business/Functional Consultants and Business Analysts at the entry level, and also in HR. The confidence of the Consulting companies was also evident with recruiters like Ernst and Young, MindTree Consulting and others visiting the campus.
Finance, especially the area of Banking, also saw students being recruited in large numbers. The likes of ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, CitiBank prominently figured in the list of recruiters, besides others like
CARE. Marketing companies spanned all areas like FMCG, Automobile Marketing, Financial Services Marketing. Companies like CavinKare, Wipro Consumer Care, Asian Paints, Blowplast, etc. figured prominently in the Marketing
area. The placements saw a healthy mix of regular and first time recruiters. Salary Levels This year saw salaries sky rocketing compared to previous years indicating the growing need for the 'right'
talent. The high compensation levels was not just restricted to a single sector, but spanned several sectors. (The following figures are in Rs Lakhs p.a.)
The impressive details above caused our Placement Chairman, Dr. Y. Lakshman Kumar, to proudly declare that, "The Placements have exceeded the expectations of all our stakeholders, the recruiters, the students and the management". In short, the Placements 2006 at BIM was a roaring success. The times to come, indeed, promise to be even better. E-mail: pr@bim.edu |
