Resilience in International Business

New Delhi, August 26 2009: "Recession is an unwanted present from the Consumerist West to the world economy" said Dr. Charan Wadhwa, Professor - Center for Policy Research, Delhi, at the national seminar on Resilience in International Business at Fortune Institute of International Business.  The seminar has been organised as part of academic industry interface by Fortune Institute of International Business.

Delivering the key note address, Dr. Justin Paul, of Nagoya University of Commerce and Business, Japan, spoke about the economies of Japan and Vietnam and their future strategies to combat recession.  He opined that India's skilled and English speaking youth will help India tide over the recession crisis.

Dr. A.K. Puri, Director General, Fortune Institute of International Business, summed up international business scenario by saying, "Countries of the world have to learn lessons from recession in terms of moving from dependence to Independence to Interdependence".

The national seminar deliberated on cause and effect of the slow down, steps taken for recovery and the impact and efficiency of remedial measures. Highlights of the seminar included were discussions on Dynamic International Business Scenario, Recession to Recovery: A Road Map, Aligning Multi-level Intervention, International Business Scenario, Japanese Business in the Globalization Era, US Economic Indicators and Its Implications, Recession & Recovery, Current Economic Problems of India & World and Global Responses Multi Level Intervention.

Eminent speakers at seminar included Dr. Justin Paul, Professor, Nagoya University of Commerce and Business, Japan, Mr. Ajay Sahay, Director General, Federation of Indian Export Organization (FIEO), Dr. Charan Wadhwa, Professor at Center for Policy Research, Delhi, Mr. R.G.Ramachandran, CFO, JSW Infrastructure & Logistics, Mr. Arun Goyal, Director, Big Data Base, Mr. S.S. Das, Director, Ministry of Finance, Mr. Rajiv Arora, Director, Ministry of New Renewable Energy (International Relations). Dr. Vinod Dumblekar, CEO MANTIS, Dr. Namita Rajput, Professor, Delhi University and Dr. R.K. Dhawan, Former Additional DGFT.

Harshie, a final year student commented, "the seminar has been very engrossing.  It provided a window to emerging realities and demands of international business in these times of recession through the eyes of the practitioners."
