IIM Kozhikode to organize HR Summit 2013

Kozhikode, February 07, 2013: The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode is organizing the IIMK HR Summit 2013, on 8th of February centred on the theme "High-tech people, High-touch HR: Are we missing the humane touch?" The summit, spread over 3 days, comprises of a book release that collects well researched thoughts pertaining to the theme from industry stalwarts, eminent academicians and research scholars of India. Mr. Satish Pradhan, Group HR Head, TATA Sons Ltd., shall release the book.

The Institute, committed to the mission of propagating timeless Indian values and thoughts in the practice of business management, is organizing the summit in response to the recurring management – labour troubles that have increased in frequency in recent times. As of 30th July 2012, there was a 12% rise in industrial disputes with a loss of 9,60,089 man days [The Indian Express, 30 th July, 2012]. Such a trend is a serious threat to the socio-economic development of the nation which is attempting to crawl out from the jaws of recession. The zenith of the problem was arguably reached with the reported violence at the Manesar plant of Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. in late July 2012.

The Institute proposes to provide a platform during this summit to renowned academicians, researchers and HR practitioners to discuss, debate, diagnose and propose a remedy for this open bleeding of the industrial wound. The Institute hopes to generate a timeless cure from the eternal wisdom enshrined in the ageless scriptures of mankind.

The summit will witness the converging of a number of minds, the likes of which include Mr. Radhakrishnan Nair, CHRO, Federal Bank; Mr. Thomas Verghese Simon, Vice President -HR, Global Talent Engagement, Tata Consultancy Services; Mr. Rajesh Nair, Vice President  Markets, Ernst & Young Pvt. Ltd.; Mr. Ramaswamy Kavalapara, Head HR for Xchanging in APAC;  Dr. Prashant Nair, Head HR, Cipla; Mr. Sandip Dash, AGM, SAIL; Prof. Vishal Gupta, IIM Calcutta; Mr. Soum Chakraborty, VP- HR & A, RENAULT India Pvt. Ltd.; Mr. Rajiv Noronha AVP & Head-Organizational Effectiveness (BPO Services), TCS;  and Ms. Kalpana Sinha, Co founder and CEO, COSMODE Consultant. A panel discussion between Shri K. K.
