Key to Highest placement offers:  Perfect balance of cognitive abilities, academics, EQ.

With 7000 applications pouring in from 26 states acrossthe nation and only 240 seats to offer, the selection committee at FORE School of Management, Delhi, faces a different kind of challenge. The challenge to identify the potential managerial skills with the right kind of balance.

Besides having an inclusive evaluation system, ensuring equal opportunities to students from various academic backgrounds; inclusion of one panelist from the corporate in the selection committee; following an inter-rative reliability factor for the ratings given to students; it is a tough task at times, for the committee to distinguish the most deserving applicantas a student with a 'relatively' low CAT score, having moderate cognitive abilities, may often prove to be a better managerial potential.

The efforts on balancing the cognitive abilities, academics and emotional quotient has paid off well as students of FORE, are a preferred lot for MNCs. Placement offers at FORE were the best among the non-IIM category.  Last year's Rs. 39.6 lacs offer to a FORE student was even higher than some of the IIMs.

"We stopped accepting applications on December 10th, 2012 when most of the B-Schools of the country were extending their application dates. This year the CAT cut-off for GD/PI shortlisting has been kept at 87.25 and 82.83 percentile for PGDM and PGDM (IB) respectively. Weightage given to CAT score is 40% while rest 60% is distributed in GD: 15%; PI: 20%; academics: 15% and work experience: 10 %. The selection committee comprising of one panelist from the corporate, considers an inter-rative reliability factor and is accountable for every rating," said Prof. SanghamitraBuddhapriya,Chairperson Admissions, FORE.
