President expresses concern over lack of a dedicated cadre of management professionals

Even though India has the second largest higher education system, there has been a decline in the overall quality of higher education. Critics have for long complained that India's educational system is out of tune with the needs of the job market. Corporate recruiters often complain that graduates produced by the Indian Universities lack the skills required by the industry due to which, they have to spend precious time and resources in training them.

There is dearth of talent to fill important academic and research positions and President Pranab Mukherjee believes that this trend needs to be reversed. The President has called for an "over-riding emphasis on quality". Expressing concern over the performance of universities and lack of a dedicated cadre of management professionals, the President noted that no Indian university figures in the list of top 200 such educational institutions in the world. A strategy is required to make the Indian industry compete successfully with the best in the world. Healthy growth of Indian business will be greatly facilitated by the availability of a competent cadre of management professionals.

In order to gain a deeper perspective on the same, I would like to connect you with faculty member of Imarticus Learning, Mr Suresh Rao, Former Designation: Vice President, JP Morgan. He would be available to share his views on the following points:

* What are the criteria based on which recruiters recruit employees today?
* The need for industry relevant education
* Benefits of specialised education
* Why do management students require specialized courses than a mere MBA degree
