B-school witness a decline in placement as
hiring slows down

The current year is proving to be tough for B-schools as many of the students right from the prestigious Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) to several top and mid-tier B - Schools remain without job offers and placements are taking longer than usual. Placements at the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM), which got off to a brisk start, are now cooling down with both old and new IIMs having 5-15% of their batches left to place. The current placement season is the most challenging in years despite IIMs reaching out to a significant number of companies.

A combination of factors responsible for this situation is the feeble state of the economy along with the gap between the expectations of companies and the quality of students that some B-schools are churning out. Quite a lot of graduates from lower-rung management institutes are ignorant about the basics in their specialization. Possessing specialization skills and domain knowledge increases the employability rate of students and gives them an edge over the other MBA graduates. It enables them to be at the fore front of the ever-changing industry by having in-depth industry specific knowledge and an interactive learning experience.

In order to gain a deeper perspective on the same, I would like to connect you with faculty member of Imarticus Learning, Mr Suresh Rao, Former Designation: Vice President, JP Morgan. He would be available to share his views on the following points:

* The educational and industrial scenario
* How specialization is the need of the hour
* The benefits of specialized education
* How specialization skills and domain knowledge increases employability
