Dean, Asian Institute of Management
Dr. Jikyeong Kang assumed office as the new dean of the Asian Institute of Management(AIM) on January 5, 2015. Dr. Kang replaced Dr. Ricardo A. Lim, who has served admirably as AIM's dean
Dr. Kang specializes in Marketing, particularly branding, segmentation and positioning, service quality, and multicultural and ethnic marketing. She brings a wealth of experience, an outstanding administrative
background, and a distinguished career in academic leadership that will enable her to lead the AIM academic team in the coming years.
Prior to assuming her post as the AIM dean, she was the Doctor of Business Administration
Program Director of the Manchester Business School (MBS) in the UK from 2010 to 2014. She also served as MBS' full-time MBA Programs Director from 2001 to 2007, where she was instrumental in propelling the MBA program's Financial
Times ranking from 47th in 2002 to 22nd in 2007, the highest ranking that the program has achieved. Dr. Kang also contributed to securing the number one spot in the Financial Times rankings from 2011 to 2013 for the MBS Doctoral
Under her steadfast leadership, MBS earned accreditations from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the European Foundation for Management Development Quality Improvement System
(EQUIS), and the Association of MBAs (AMBA).
A champion of excellence in teaching and research, her honors include an induction to the Institute for Learning and Teaching in the UK, a recognition as one of the Outstanding
Young Women of America, and a commendation from the Asian Women of Achievement Award in the UK. Dr. Kang has also taught around the world as a Visiting Professor for the Sogang Graduate School of Business in Seoul, Korea; ESSEC
Business School in Cergy-Pontoise, France; IE Business School in Madrid, Spain; HEC in Montreal, Canada; the Rotterdam School of Management Erasmus University in Rotterdam, The Netherlands; and China Europe International Business
School in Shanghai, China.
Dr. Kang has also published widely in prestigious international journals such as International Marketing Review and Journal of Advertising Research. She has authored books that delve into retail
such as Merchandising Mathematics, and Elderly Consumers and Retail Personnel: An Examination of Knowledge, Attitudes, and Interaction.
Dr. Kang also assumes the post of Senior Vice President for Marketing at AIM and is the
first Korean to hold both posts. Dr. Kang earned her Ph.D major in Retailing/Marketing from the University of Minnesota, her master's degree from Colorado State University, and a bachelor's degree from Hanyang University, Seoul,
