IIM Kozhikode's Alumni - Akshay Jadhao Bagged
the Prestigious Queen's Young Leaders Award

Kozhikode, 21 January, 2015: Breaking all inhibitions, an alumnus of IIM Kozhikode (IIMK), Akshay Jadhao has emerged a winner in serving for a social cause. Akshay Jadhao won the prestigious Queen's Young Leaders Award. He has been honoured with this award for his work in rural India and Nigeria for the upliftment of the underprivileged students and tribal cooperatives, through multiple organizations across the world.

Queen's Young Leaders Award is given by The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust, Comic Relief and The Royal Commonwealth Society.

Encouraging more students to follow suit, Prof. Kulbhushan Balooni, Director, IIM Kozhikode, said, "Taking the roads less travelled today and carving a niche in the social service space is creating a wave not only in India, but is getting worldwide recognition. Dedication and perseverance for the social transformation of the society is a testimony to the changing face of young India."

The Queen's Young Leaders Award aims to recognize exceptional people aged 18-29, who are taking the lead in their communities and using their skills to transform lives. This award is given to the Commonwealth's most promising young leaders who are taking the lead in their communities and using their skills to transform lives.

Akshay Jadhao grew up in the rural farming region of Vidarbha, where transport, basic education and access to the internet were not readily available and unemployment amongst the young is rife. Akshay launched education and skills courses in a bid to improve the job opportunities and future prospects of hundreds of young people.

Winners of this prestigious Award will receive a unique package of training, mentoring and networking, including a one-week residential programme in the UK during which they will collect their Award from Her Majesty – 'The Queen'. With this support, Award winners will be expected to continue and develop the amazing work they are already doing in their communities.
