LMTSM student bags Rs 17.34-lakh package from leading foreign university for research

* Offered by University of Twente, Netherlands, highest package at LMTSM this placement season records 44% increase over last year; average annual remuneration goes up by 16%

* 82.6% students placed, 10.3% decide to opt for start-ups

* 41 companies pick up B-school's industry-ready talent at an average annual package of Rs 4.84 lakh

* TCS, Hero Motocorp, Volvo Eicher, Reliance ADAG, Practo Technologies, ITC, Philips among top recruiters

With the Indian economy showing signs of resurgence, LM Thapar School of Management (LMTSM), the business school of Thapar University, Patiala, has received an overwhelming response from leading corporates this placement season with the highest package witnessing a whopping 44% increase as compared to last year and the average annual remuneration going up by 16%.

At a time when most business school graduates are running after white-collar jobs, an MBA passout of LMTSM has bagged this year's highest annual package of Rs 17.34 lakh for research from University of Twente, Netherlands, ranked among the world's leading universities.

While the placement process, the first since LMTSM came under the CAT umbrella last year, is still on with top companies like HDFC bank, Kelloggs India and ACC yet to visit the business school's Dera Bassi campus, 82.6% students have already secured jobs. Reflecting LMTSM's special focus on entrepreneurship, as demonstrated by its dynamic venture lab, 10.3% of its passouts have decided to opt for start-ups.

This year, 41 companies, including 12 first-time recruiters, have picked up the B-school's industry-ready talent at an average annual package of Rs 4.84 lakh. The number of offers made by corporates has also increased substantially. Reliance ADAG has hired the maximum number of students (six), followed by Practo Technologies (five) and Philips and Gati KWE (four each). The other prominent recruiters include Tata Consultancy Services, Hero Motocorp, Volvo Eicher, ITC, InfoEdge Ltd (Naukri.com) and Avantha Group, to name a few. Hiring across diverse sectors has been another feature of this year's placements.
