IIT Madras signs MoUs with leading Russian Universities


Chennai,June 10, 2015: Indian Institute of Technology Madras has strengthened its ties with Russia by signing MoUs with National Research Tomsk State University, Tomsk, and  Ural Federal University, Yekaterinburg.

The MoU's will address various aspects of collaboration between the Institutions including exchange of students and faculty, joint workshops and symposia, and joint research in disciplines of mutual interest.

Prof. Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Director, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras,
signed these MoUs while accompanying a Presidential delegation to Russia. He said that the Institute is pleased to be joining the venture. "We currently have an active MoU with with National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University, Tomsk, and are actively exploring other tie-up as well. I am sure our collaborative efforts will lead to innovative and impactful work"

Prof. R. Nagarajan, Dean, International & Alumni Relations at IIT Madras stated "Given Russia's traditional strengths in science and technology, this is a natural partnership with significant benefits to faculty and students in both countries. We will explore large-scale collaborations with the support of industry, as well as Governmental funding agencies such as DST",
