July 27, 2015, Mumbai: The K.C. Mahindra Education Trust has announced the results of the 2015 K. C. Mahindra Scholarships for Post Graduate Studies Abroad. Three K.C. Mahindra Fellows will receive an interest free loan scholarship of Rs. 24 lakhs in total, while another 54 candidates will receive an interest free loan scholarship of Rs. 2 lakh each.

This year, the Trust received 884 applications from students who have obtained admissions to top universities in the US, UK, France and China. The candidates went through a rigorous selection process that culminated in 84 shortlisted candidates being interviewed by a panel of eminent leaders comprising Keshub Mahindra, Chairman Emeritus, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., Anand Mahindra, Chairman and Managing Director, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., Bharat Doshi, Director, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., Ulhas Yargop, Group President, IT Sector, Group CTO, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., Dr. Indu Shahani, Principal, H R College, Vijay Gokhale and Rama Bijapurkar, Independent Consultant.

"Every year we find the quality of candidates getting better. It was a difficult task to select the final 57 students, all of whom had gained admission into the most prestigious foreign universities, I am sure these students will become great brand ambassadors for our country" said Mr. Keshub Mahindra, Chairman K. C. Mahindra Education Trust & Chairman Emeritus Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.

The top three candidates who were conferred the K.C. Mahindra Fellowship will receive an interest free loan scholarship of Rs. 8 lakhs each. The Fellows have displayed exceptional academic ability with very promising future prospects.

Mohit Mittal is slated to pursue an MBA degree at Harvard University; Shubhangi Bhadada plans to study Law at Harvard University; and Vishal Kumkar has secured admission to Cornell University to study Computer Science. In addition to the above, 54 other promising students were awarded interest free loan scholarships of Rs. 2 lakh each.

The applicants will be pursuing their post-graduation in a number of subjects ranging from Computer Science, to Engineering, MBA, Law and Economics, in various universities Ivy League colleges that include Harvard, Columbia and Cornell in the USA, the University of Cambridge, University of Oxford and London School of Economics in the UK, Sciences Po in France, and Peking University in China.

The K.C. Mahindra Scholarship for Post Graduate Studies Abroad was the first scholarship to be set up at the K.C. Mahindra Education Trust in 1956 by the founder of the Trust, K.C. Mahindra who also founded the Mahindra Group in 1945, along with his brother, J.C. Mahindra. Since inception, the Trust has provided 1,168 scholarships to Indian students pursuing their post-graduate studies abroad.
