NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP
FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES (2002-2003)

Application in the prescribed proforma are invited from students with disabilities for
financial assistance for pursuing higher and technical education

Eligibility :
(1) Financial assistance will be available to Indian students with disabilities certified as per definition under Persons with Disabilities Act 1995.
(2) Financial assistance will be given for post matric/post secondary professional course in recognized institutions.
(3) Scholarship will be awarded for one course to one student.
(4) Financial assistance can be given for computer with editing software for blind & deaf graduate and postgraduate students pursuing professional courses and for support access software for cerebral palsied students.
(5) Students with disabilities, who have passed matriculation/secondary or any higher examination from a recognized board/university, will be eligible for the assistance.
(6) Continuation/renewal of the award for next year will depend on successfully completing the course in the preceding year with minimum 50 percent marks.
(7) Assistance will not be available for courses having duration of less than one year.
(8) A scholarship holder under this scheme will not hold any other scholarship/stipend. If awarded any other scholarship/stipend, the student can exercise his/her option for choosing the scholarship that he/she proposes to avail and inform awarding authority about the same.
(9) For availing financial assistance under this scheme monthly family income of the beneficiary should not be more than Rs.15,000/- from all sources. Family income will include income of the parent/guardian.

Awards :
500 awards will be available for pursuing higher and technical education and will be given through institutions in which students will undertake the study. Awards will be given to different categories of disabled student in following number:

The awardees will also be re-imbursed the course fee subject to a ceiling of Rs.10,000 per year.

Besides students living in the hostel/residential facility provided by the institution, those students will also be considered hostellers who live in an accommodation hired at least by a group of 3 students living together with common mess arrangements. Such students will have to furnish a certificate in this regard countersigned by head of the institution.

Application for the awards will be made to Shri K.S. Kainth, Under Secretary in the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi-110 001. Application for awards of scholarship will be made through head of the institution in which applicant is enrolled for study. Application for the award will be made in prescribed format that is placed at annexure a (Application form can be typed and used).

FOR ASPIRING MANAGEMENT STUDENTS

has instituted a scholarship program for aspiring Management students.

The awards are being offered to students who will initiate their application process this year for admission in 2003. The awards will be given to those who get admission into institutions that use the CAT or XAT scores as criteria for selection. Ten awards, of Rs. 50,000 each will be given to students

Scholarships at SMU in 2003

We welcome outstanding applicants from India with A-Levels /
Indian Standard 12 / International Baccalaureate Diploma to apply for
the SMU Foreign Students Endowed Scholarships to study at SMU.
Details on the scholarships will be available on the SMU website in Feb 2003.

To gain admission into Singapore Management University's undergraduate programmes, you must take the SAT I : Reasoning Test, an independent test administered by the US College Board. The SAT I is a three-hour test, comprising multiple-choice questions that measure verbal and mathematical reasoning abilities.

SMU is one of the three universities in Singapore, and the only one that has
a collaboration with the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania,
an Ivy League University.

SMU offers the Bachelor of Accountancy, Bachelor of Business Management and Bachelor of Science (Economics) programmes. Application for admission in the academic year 2003-04 will open on 2 Dec 2002 and in Mar 2003.

In registering for the SAT I, please indicate the code number 2861 for SMU,
so that a copy of the SAT score report is sent directly to SMU by

J.N. TATA SCHOLARSHIPS

Applications are invited from Indian nationals for
the J.N. TATA ENDOWMENT LOAN SCHOLARSHIPS
for the academic year 2003-2004 for higher studies abroad in all disciplines

Eligibility :
Applicants should be graduates of a recognized Indian University, with a consistently good academic record. Students in the final year of the degree course and those awaiting results are eligible to apply. Academics and other mid-career professionals with a good academic background and experience in their field who wish to go abroad for further specialization are also eligible.
Candidates applying for the scholarship should have applied for admission to universities abroad for the Fall 2003/Spring 2004 semesters. Applications for scholarship from students awaiting admissions abroad will also be considered. However, the final award is subject to their securing admission.

Selection :
After the initial screening, candidates will be short-listed for an interview in person by subject experts. The interview will be held at Mumbai between
March and June 2003 and the final selection for the award will be
announced by the end of July 2003

Procedure for Applying :
Application forms will be issued from the administrative office of
the Endowment at Mulla House, 51, M.G. Road, Mumbai-400 001, on payment of Rs.100/- by cash or by Money Order. The applications should give their
full name and address in the 'Space for Communications' provided on
both sides of the money order form.
Last date for the issue of application forms is January 31, 2003
