BANASTHALI VIDYAPITH It was on October 6, 1935 that Smt. Ratan Shastri and Pandit Hiralal Shastri founded Banasthali Vidyapith to fill up the vacuum caused by the sudden death of their highly talented
and promising daughter Shantabai. Over these sixty-six years the Vidyapith has developed into a National Centre for women's education and has achieved the status of institution deemed to be university. Presently about 4700
students from all over the country and from some foreign countries speaking different languages and belonging to different castes, creeds and religions are receiving education at the Vidyapith. It is the only fully
residential institution for women located in rural surroundings and providing wide spectrum of educational facilities from nursery to Ph.D. level in one campus. Besides disciplines in the faculties of Science, Home Science,
Humanities, Fine Arts and Education, it provides educational facilities in Computer Science, Electronics, Biotechnology, Management and Textile Designing. WISDOM
(Women's Institute for Studies in Development Oriented Management), established in 1996 is rooted in a new vision of management education. Its mission is to prepare women for enlightened leadership roles in all walks of life. It seeks to train students under the new management education model of Panchmukhi Vikas by combining three strands: Indian Ethos and Indian Paradigm for inner quality development, Women's experiences & issues and Traditional theories and concepts of management. Through a harmonious blending of these three strands a new intellectual foundation has been created for training managers who are different from the current breed.
The following key themes constitute the foundational basis for WISDOM's academic programme:
a. A synthesis of the spiritual values and the scientific achievements of the East and the West. b. Management as a combination of the rational-analytic and intuitive-holistic approaches based on the following equation:
W = R + I c. Panchmukhi Vikas i.e. holistic development of an individual through a balance of five aspects viz. physical, practical aesthetic, moral and intellectual.
d. A blending of tradition and modernity rooted in Indian ethos.

IMPACT OF IPR ON INDIAN INDUSTRY Introduction 'Intellectual Property' is an intangible and invincible property that is created by the use of human intellect. As per TRIPS agreement IPR includes Patents, Copyrights,
Trademarks, Designs, Geographical Indications, Undisclosed Information, Patenting of Microorganisms and New Plant Varieties. Keeping in view the commitments at WTO, India had amended legislation to strengthen the framework of
protecting IPR. In the knowledge era, economic focus of global trade and policy has progressively move from 'tariff protection' to 'protection of Intellectual Property' Objective Under the terms of the WTO, India is
required to implement WTO – standard IPR protection law by 2005. Although remarkable progress has been made in developing the legal frame for the same, there is very high level of IPRs infringement in India, mostly in trademarks
and copyright violation. Awareness in India about the intellectual Property regime still tends to be low among key stakeholders such as business sector, the scientific community and public officials Keeping in
view the present scenario of Intellectual Property Rights and their implementation, Banasthali Vidyapith is organizing a two day workshop on the theme 'Impact of IPR on Indian Industry' with the following objectives:
1. To increase awareness about the general issues and the latest developments related with intellectual property rights. 2. To discuss issues pertaining IPRs infringement in developing countries, in trademarks,
patents and copyright violation by counterfeiting products 3. To analyse the impact on IPR on service sector & Agriculture 4. To discuss traditional knowledge and expression of folklore in context
to IPR to encourage domestic intellectual property creation.

FIVE-DAY WORK SHOP ON RESEARCH METHODOLOGY Introduction Many business organizations and academic institutions have become increasingly research-minded, particularly because of the changes that take place in the 'management' concept itself. In place of the traditional principles of management, a perspective management philosophy is fast emerging, in which managerial analysis plays an integral part. Thus, managerial research receives the attention of all those who are interested in management. This is the reason why Goa Institute of Management is planning to organize a five-day workshop on research methodology for management educators. It has been observed that a considerable number of scholars, researchers and social scientists do not have sufficient knowledge in Research methodology, especially in the area of Management and there is a lack of understanding of application of appropriate statistical techniques for their research proposals. In view of the above, Goa Institute of Management organizes this workshop to endeavour to enhance the knowledge of research methodology for management educators. Objectives: 1. To help the participants in identifying the research problem in their domain. Target group:
The target group of participants for this training programme is
* Young research scholars who are pursuing their M.Phil and doctoral research Number of participants: The total number of candidates for the Programme is 35 (5 participants from outside Goa and 30 from Goa). The small batch of participants facilitates and fosters better interaction between the instructors and participants and among the participants themselves. Participants are also assured of individual attention and sufficient access to computer facilities for practice. About the Institute: Goa Institute of Management (GIM) is one of the premier management schools in India. GIM is committed to providing an environment that allows each individual to discover his/her own potential. The emphasis in GIM is on learning, on working effectively as a team and on equipping ones self with a sound knowledge base that enables informed decision-making.
