The conference is open to faculty and students of all educational institutions, colleges and universities.

Contents of Papers for Population Control :
Papers for population control should emphasize the following:
- Peaceful, voluntary & non-violent ways to preventing conception, and controlling population, and
- How these techniques of preventing conception and controlling population can also create many business and job opportunities, as they do a tremendous amount of social good, at the same time.

Contents of Papers for Waste Management :
Papers for waste management should emphasize the following:
- How to improve the methods of disposing, collecting, transporting and processing the various kinds of wastes, and
- How waste management can create several business and job opportunities, while doing an enormous social good at the same time.

Submission of Papers :
Part "A" : Personal Details (On separate covering sheet)
1. Name of the participant & position
2. Name of Institute/College/University
3. Qualifications & Past Experience, if any
4. Complete contact details including telephone/fax/e-mail address.
Duly countersigned by the head of the institution.
Part "B" : Paper
1. Maximum 2500 words or 10 pages, single side A4, one and half spaced, Times Roman font size 14
2. Send four printed copies accompanied with one on a CD.
3. Those who have participated earlier are not eligible.
4. Participants or institutes name should not appear anywhere in Part-B
5.
Last date for receipt of papers by us is 20th September 2004.
Part "C" : Certificate from the institute head, certifying that the submitted paper is the bonafide work of the participant.

Selection of Papers for Presentation :
- All submissions would be evaluated on blind-referred basis by an independent panel of academicians, professionals, and social leaders.
- Six shortlisted participants in each category would be eligible for the final presentations at the conference in Jodhpur. They shall be reimbursed to & fro second class sleeper rail fare to Jodhpur by shortest route against the submission of the original tickets and provided free boarding & lodging at Jodhpur.

Awards in each category :
- First Award : Rs.5000
- Second Award : Rs.3000
- Third Award : Rs.1000
- Consolation Awards (2) : Rs.500 each.

Introduction

There has been a growing realization in the industry as well as in the service sectors that effective business communication is the most fundamental input required to enhance competitiveness, innovation and effectiveness of organizations. It is the adroit blend of techno-managerial skill and quality business communication that will determine its survival in these critical times. In order to achieve corporate excellence, organizations are making large investments in human resource development. Systematic and well planned training and development strategy for professionals (business managers, IT professionals, engineers and techno-managers) help organizations not only in overcoming managerial deficiencies and obsolescence but also in preparing computer-savvy business professionals to take up larger responsibilities of managing business.

The Institute

The National Institute of Management Calcutta (NIMC) was established in July 1997 by the Indian Army under the aegis of the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES), New Delhi, to conduct state-of-art Management education with the discipline of the Services inculcated in it. The Institute is an approved B-School by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is affiliated to West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT), Kolkata. The Institute has been able to carve out a niche segment for itself, as it is ranked among the top B- Schools in the country – a fact that speaks volumes for the Institute's credibility to conduct such programme. Introduction
At the turn of the century, human resource managers are facing new challenges. The world economy and markets are different from those of a decade ago. As paradigms have changed, the characteristics affecting human resource management must be revised. The trends: -

* Many companies are outsourcing HR Processes
* The rise of BPO has shifted large numbers of white-collar jobs to offshore locations. For example, GE Capital, HSBC, Citibank, World Bank etc. have invested heavily in BPO centers across India.
* Corporate HR departments have shrunk in size.
* The role of IR in corporate HR is increasingly of less importance.

What are the implications for Indian HR Professionals? What are the new skill sets and aspirations? This conference seeks to answer some of these questions through a seminar/dialog format of immense value to professionals and students alike.

Under this backdrop, ITM is holding a conference to address the issue. The focus will be on HR Transformation, involving changing HR's priorities, accountabilities, roles, and organizational design. The Conference shall also focus on:

Call for Papers
Academic and corporate participants are invited to submit their papers on any of the above sub- themes. Submitted papers must not have been previously presented or scheduled for presentation. Papers that have been published, accepted for publication, or under review must not appear before the conference.

Firstly, a 300-words abstract is to be sent. Upon acceptance, full paper should be sent as follows.

The cover page should include:
a. Name of author(s)
b. Title and affiliation(s)
c. Full communication address with telephone, fax numbers and email address

The next page should include the title of the submission and a brief outline of the paper (not exceeding 100 words)

Full paper should be limited to 2000 words excluding references, tables and graphs. The format and other requirements of the full paper will be shared with intending participants in the 2nd announcement of the conference.

Work-in-progress from academics and best-practice case studies from corporate are encouraged to be presented at the conference.

Papers will be peer-evaluated and selected papers will be published with a reputed publisher.
