Organizations are becoming knowledge-intensive and yet few reliable metrics exist for measuring and managing the value of human capital.

Call for Papers

Papers are invited on the following sub-themes: All submitted papers will be peer-reviewed on the basis of real-life significance, technical quality, and richness in content.

Corporate Case Study Contest

Real-life case studies in the discipline of HRM relating to the theme - "Managing Human Capital" are invited from the corporate sector to be presented in this round table. The case studies to be presented should embed the following model.


An expert-jury will examine the presentation and choose three best case studies for recognition. There are cash prizes and a citation from ITM
• Rs.25,000 for the best case study
• Rs.20,000 for the second best case study
• Rs.15,000 for the third best case study

Besides, the winning-teams will get a wide publicity across India and abroad through conference publications, and post-conference media coverage.

Guidelines for submitting the paper and case studies

• Papers and case studies original in nature (not submitted to any other journal/conference proceedings etc.), not exceeding 5000 words (figures, tables, and references included) may be submitted by email at hrc05@itm.edu on or before the September 09th 2005.
• All accepted papers will be published in a proceedings. and the best 3 papers will be rewarded.
• Further information containing detailed guidelines and a model paper and case study can be found on this website in the following days.

Conference Registration Fees

The registration fee for the paper and case study presentation:
• Rs. 3000/- for academic participants
• Rs. 5000/- for corporate participants and
• Rs. 1500/- for full time Ph.d and post- graduate students

Policy in Practice:  Designing and Implementing Effective Policies
September 23-25, 2005

Objectives

This conference aims to bring together students, academics, researchers and practitioners together in a knowledge sharing and consultative mode. This conference will provide an opportunity to:

Bring together researchers and practitioners (policy makers) on one platform to discuss institutional innovations, their impacts, and the research and policy and practice lessons that are emerging

Understand the status of institutional change in different areas

Help develop and enhance the future research agenda on these issues

Act as a forum for showcasing innovations in institutional change.

Paper Submissions

We invite conceptual, empirical and in-depth case study based papers on policy analysis, design and implementation. In keeping with the focus on institutions we strongly encourage papers that relate to themes of the conference.

Papers presented at the conference will be included in the conference proceedings. Selected papers may be considered for publication in the IIMB Management Review. IIMB will also prepare a short summary of some of the key policy aspects, research issues, and long-term research agenda that the conference highlights. This summary will be disseminated among researchers and organizations interested in policy implementation issues in the developing country context.

Full papers for presentation in the conference and for inclusion in the proceedings may be submitted to the conference office by June 30, 2005. The submitted papers would be blind reviewed and acceptance communicated by July 31, 2005. Final versions of the papers are due by August 31, 2005. Nature and Scope
Papers dealing with all aspects of Information Science Technology and Management are welcome. In particular, papers that explore the multidisciplinary nature of the subject matter are encouraged. The nature and scope of CISTM is best described in the editorial of the inaugural issue of Journal of Information Science and Technology, where Steve Simon argues, "Practitioners and researchers have often held stereotypical views of each other, with practitioners viewing researchers as interested only in methodological rigor while failing to concern themselves with anything in the real world, and researchers damning practitioners for embracing the latest fads, regardless of theory or evidence."

Submission Instructions
Submissions can be made in a number of categories: Completed research papers, research-in-progress papers, case studies, panels and posters/round table discussion papers. Please follow the following guidelines in preparing your submission.

Completed research papers
Typically 5,000 words long (excluding abstract and references)

Research in progress papers
Typically 2,500 words (excluding abstract and references).

Case studies
Typically between 3,000 and 5,000 words long

Posters and round table discussion
Typically a 1000 word synopsis of the topic area to be presented.

Panel proposals
Typically a 1000 word description, identifying the panelists to be involved

In preparing your papers, please use the Harvard referencing style. In text citations should be in an Author (date) format with the bibliographical list inserted at the end of the paper.

Submission and review process will be handled electronically. Please make your submission as one MSWord or RTF file. Include all figures and tables in relevant places in the text. The title page should indicate the title, author affiliations including telephone, fax and email, in case of multiple authors corresponding author details should be clearly identified. The title page should also identify the track for which you wish your paper to be considered. All submissions will be double blind peer reviewed.

Wealth Creation through Entrepreneurship: Opportunities & Challenges

Entrepreneurs are both risk takers and wealth creators. While many of them fall on the way side, some of them create enormous wealth for them as well as for their nations. Entrepreneurship, through creation of wealth, is a major means for development. Hence, entrepreneurship development has been one of the priorities in countries world over. Governments make consistent and concerted efforts to strengthen and revitalize the promotion of entrepreneurship. With shrinking organized job market and growing population of the youth, entrepreneurship has become dire need for the country.

The Centre for Entrepreneurship (CFE) at MDI was created keeping above in the view. One of its objectives is to create job givers in addition to producing management graduates.
