Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM) was started by a group of public-spirited industrialists headed by VBC group and others in 1980 with the objective of offering courses in engineering and management required by the growing industrial sector.  The Governing Body of GITAM consists of prominent and socially committed industrialists and professionals.  Located on a picturesque campus with sylvan surroundings, overlooking the Bay of Bengal, the Institute places emphasis on practical and professional knowledge and experience to enable participants to secure employment immediately after completion of course.

Accommodation/Hostel Facilities : A limited number of Students Both Boys & Girls may be provided with the hostel accommodation on the campus.

Recreation : The College has Gym, Playground and Management club.

Catering / Mess : Yes, at a time it can serve 150 persons.

Health and Welfare : Residential Doctor

Computing : The College has a well equipped computer lab with one PENTIUM with 1 GB Hard Disk, 10 PENTIUMs with 2 GB Hard Disk, 5 Intel Celerons with 8 GB Hard Disk, 5 PENTIUM-IIIs with 8 GB Hard Disk and also two Color Jet printer, one Laser Jet Printer, three Dot Matrix Printers.  The college has an  Internet connection which is open to both faculty and students throughout the day.

Library : The College Library carries about 6000 titles in Management, social sciences, computer science and general studies and subscribes to 84 foreign and Indian journals and dailies of repute.  The collection of books includes classics in Management sciences and encyclopedia of social sciences.
