ABOUT THE INSTITUTE 
Started in 1991 as an autonomous non-profit making institution, Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA) is the first academic institute in the country, and perhaps in the Asia Pacific region, which is wholly dedicated to serve the needs of the Integrated Marketing Communications industry. MICA's education & experience on campus, substantially enhances the student's career prospects. Currently, the career choice ranges from joining an advertising agency, a marketing research
or brand marketing company, working in diverse media like print, audio-visual or electronic, and the newly emerging sectors of Direct Marketing, Event Management and Public Relations. Students graduating in March 2004 will be the 9 th batch of its
2 year Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Communications (PGPC).

Accommodation/Hostel Facilities : The Campus extends over 17 acres of green, verdant grass, mango and neem orchards and it sports a well-tended garden of flower beds. The centre of the complex, houses the class rooms, faculty offices, the library and auditorium with 220 seats. There is a conference hall, three computer labs and all the other basic utilities required for excellence in education. The seven hostel blocks have 162 well-equipped rooms for 176 well appointed students' residential facilities.

Recreation : MICA is a member of the SPIC-MACAY. The MICAn film club is called 'Trinetra', while 'Black Coffee' is the Student managed Literary Magazine and 'Sankalp' is MICA's student led Theatre Society.
The MICA campus is also equipped with a tennis court, basket-ball and badminton court, table-tennis tables and other indoor sports facilities.
MICA's campus encourages and facilitates other activities such as cricket, football, cycling, walking and jogging.

Catering/Mess : The Students' mess committee decides the menu for the daily meals. 'Chhota', MICA's canteen is open 24X7 and caters to between-the-meals needs of the students.

Health and Welfare : MICA has a tie up with Krishna Heart Institute for emergency services. All the students are insured for personal accident and hospitalisation.

Computing : facilities at MICA include a general computer lab of 30 PCs for participants in the short duration programmes. In addition, MICA also provides a 20 PC Media Lab to facilitate students in the use of media software and another 20 PC lab for creative designing and communications and including audio/video advertisements. All the labs are connected to the Internet 24/7. Students also have direct access to emails and the Internet from their hostel rooms through their own PCs. This gives MICA a LAN of over 300 nodes and provides the students with online facilities of course material access, library catalogue access and general regular information updates from anywhere in the campus. The network design (both for the Internet and the Intranet) is to assist students to stay connected to the world 24 hours and through out the year, while providing continuous personal development through information sharing during their education at MICA.

Library : The library at MICA functions as a Knowledge Exchange and Information Centre (KEIC). It has more than 4400 books on over 20 subjects. These are supplemented by more than 12500 video clips (audio and video cassettes), guard books of print advertisements and relevant subject CDs. KEIC subscribes to over a 100 periodicals and 11 newspapers, magindia.com, indiastat.com, Ebsco Online database and VAMS electronic library. The library has LAN, TV, VCR and multimedia facilities. The range of data bases covered are books, newspapers, periodicals, thesis/dissertations, TV commercials and case study. These are valuable reference tools like upmarket surveys, NRS, IRS, Census, CMIE and other available for study. KEIC services are available to students, faculty members, the advertising industry and to researchers on a 24/7 basis.

ACADEMIC STAFF

You require at least a three year bachelor's degree (or equivalent qualification) in any discipline recognised by the Association of Indian Universities to make you eligible for a post-graduate study at MICA. If you are now a candidate appearing for the final examination of a bachelor's degree
(or an equivalent qualification), you may still apply.

Students with demonstrable aptitude for assessing, expressing or conceiving ideas that move people to action will stand better chances of being selected.

ELIGIBILITY

Step 1

Common Admission Test :
All applicants have to appear for the CAT conducted by the IIMs every year, which is usually in November. CAT is designed to assess a candidate's ability in verbal and quantitative reasoning, data interpretation, mathematical comprehension, knowledge and understanding of English. Few seats for NRI students are also available for those with GMAT score above 600.

Step 2

MICA Entrance Test (MET):
Those shortlisted based on CAT/GMAT score will be required to take the MET, which is conducted in March/April. MET is designed to assess a candidate's skills in lateral and divergent thinking, written communication and familiarity with the Indian ethos.

Step 3

Group Discussion and Interview :
All candidates invited for the MET will also participate in Group Discussion and undergo a Personal Interview. MET, Group Discussion and Personal Interview are conducted in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow and Mumbai.

Note : The final selection will be based on the candidate's past academic record, together with performance in CAT, MET, Group Discussion and Personal Interview
