For the current academic year, the School has been ranked 28th by Business Today's B-School Survey carried out by ACNielson ORG-MARG.
In 2002, the school was ranked 27th by Outlook.
In 2000, the school was ranked 43rd among Business Schools all over Asia and Australia by Asia Week.

PHILOSOPHY : Vivekananda says, "To succeed, you must have tremendous perseverance, tremendous will…. I will drink the ocean, says the persevering soul, at my will, Mountains will crumble up." This philosophy is enshrined in the soul of the school and is enlivened by the lifeblood- the faculty and students. Without a purpose, a direction and the right bend of mind, the practice of management remains just that- a practice.
"Doing is very good, but that comes from thinking…." Fill the brains therefore, with high thoughts, highest ideals, place them before you day & night; and out will come great work." This is what the school stands for and propels the students to achieve.

FOCUS : * Develop individuals who can adapt to the changing business environment * Develop emotionally intelligent individuals * Imbibe social sensitivity among students

CULTURE : Students are encouraged to practice the mantra of 'constrained optimisation- to get more and more from less and less'. Learning here is a 'two way traffic'. We follow an 'open door policy' and there is constant student- faculty interaction. The school provides a 'live' context to the students for gaining 'hands-on' experience in administration. In a sense, this makes students apprentices in an ongoing live workshop. A 'do it yourself' approach is inculcated and  'Self-Sufficiency' is encouraged.
The students perform the following functions in the school:
* Public Relations/ Public Image * Alumni relations * Annual Cultural Events * Final Placements * Social Projects * Computer Centre management * Library maintenance * Summer Placements * Sports * Web Site design and  management * Seminars and Workshops * A Vibrant Students' Council
The school thus aspires to make leaders of ordinary students. Students are taught to have an open mind, be inquisitive and receptive to new ideas. All projects and presentations are carried out in teams, which enables people from different backgrounds to work together and learn from each other.

THE STATE & THE SCHOOL : The people of Gujarat are famous for their business acumen. The state houses many major industries and entrepreneurial ventures and offers myriad opportunities for budding managers. The proximity to such a culture is a strategic advantage, especially for a business school. Our liaison with the business community contributes in a great measure to the development of our students.
Ahmedabad is a city where 'charkha', the symbol of self-reliance, was set in motion. In the times ahead, self-reliance and optimum performance with limited resources will differentiate the best from the rest. Students at B. K. School adhere to such principles and philosophy.

CAMPUS & INFRASTRUCTURE :
The School is situated in close proximity to the main University Building. Institutions of national fame like I.I.M., ATIRA, P.R.L., Sardar Patel Institute of Economic Research, V.S. Community science center and School of Architecture are all located very near to the University campus.
The Education Media Research Centre (EMRC) is located on the University campus is well equipped with Audio-visual equipments to provide educational support.
* Shopping facility is available at Gujarat University Consumers Co-operative stores and other fair price shops in and around the campus.
* The State Bank of India has a branch within the campus.
* There is a full time medical officer attached to the University Health Center.
* To commemorate the 500th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak, the Guru Nanak Bhawana has been set up within the Campus as a centre for students' activities.

DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE :
In the post-liberalisation era, the need for formal management education has become paramount and cannot be over-emphasized. It is a matter of great pleasure for management educationists to know that management is the most sought after discipline today. The large number of regional, national and international programmes available in the field of management supports this fact.
B. K. School is one of the pioneer institutions, which started imparting management education way back in 1976. Being a socially responsible institution, the school has always honoured its commitment to various stakeholders like students, organisations and the society.
The global recession, tighter and tougher job markets and cutthroat competition has made the job of business schools very challenging. In order to empower our students to adapt to the volatile business environment and the changing economic milieu, we have been consistently reinventing and updating our programmes. Our pedagogical approach emphasizes development of personal skills such as team building, communication, leadership, decision-making, etc. Armed with the knowledge and the skills imbibed into the students by the school, I am sure that they will be able to navigate the corporate and non-corporate world, wherever there is a need for professional managers.
I take this opportunity to welcome you to the school's Placement Programme for the year 2003-04.
With best wishes
Sarla Achuthan
Director
