Semester - I

Accommodation/Hostel Facilities : There are 16 hostels at the University Campus. The students of the Faculty of Management Studies are provided accommodation in two hostels namely the Sardar Patel Hall and Dr. Vikram Sarabhai Hall are devoted to the students of Faculty of Management Studies. They have a capacity of 200 and 225 students respectively. Hence, students do not find any difficulty in getting admission into these hostels. If any of the students want to stay off - campus our senior students assist them in choosing a cheap and comfortable accommodation. Each hostel is having its own separate mess run by private contractors. The mess bill ranges from Rs.500/- to Rs. 800/- per month. There is a separate mess even for non-vegetarian food consumers again at a considerably subsidized rate. Each hostel has its own recreation room, which has a TV Set and facilities for Table Tennis, Chess, Carom, etc. Apart from indoor games, in the playground one can also play cricket, volleyball, football, etc. The sports equipments for this purpose are provided by the hostel authorities. Besides this, the students have access to University Gymnasium, University Swimming Pool, Lawn Tennis, etc. The rooms have the facility of a bed, a table chair, a cupboard and an electricity point per person. Hot water for bathing is available every morning. The room is cleaned daily by the hostel sweepers.

Computing : This year it completed its eight-year of functioning. It hosts of Nelco farce 20D multi-user, multitasking computer system. A new computer system consisting Compaq server with 10 nodes and Novell Network Platform is planned to be installed shortly.
Library : The Students utilize the facility of the Institutes library consisting of over 4000 titles solely on Management and 661,592 titles and 556 newspapers & journals at the University library, the Hansa Mehta Library. The University library at present takes the pride in being the second largest in Asia. It has two big reading rooms and one research carrel for research students that are open from 8:00 A.M. in the morning to 10:00 P.M. in the night.

ELIGIBILITY
Step 1 |
The minimum requirement for qualifying for the exams is a bachelor's degree in any discipline with an aggregate of 50% overall. Those who are likely to complete their graduation are required to submit their mark sheet with the qualifying percentage before a specified date after admission, which is generally in the first week of August. Presently the test is being conducted at Vadodara only in various Faculties of M S University, but in near future we are planning to start centers in major cities of India. Except for Statutory reservations specified by the Government there are no reservations even for the University students. |
Step 2 |
The students are selected after a rigorous admission process consisting of a written test, a group discussion and a personal interview. The written test is of 2 hours duration consisting of questions on Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, Verbal Ability, Comprehension and General Knowledge. The written test is administered in Vadodara in the month of June. The weight age of written test is 70%. Students from all corners of the country come to take this written test every year. In fact in the past batches a sizeable number of students come from outside Gujarat. Students should get a minimum of 50% in each of the sub-sections in order to qualify. |
Step 3 |
Those getting sufficiently high marks are called for group discussions and personal interviews, which are held in the college itself around the month of July. The weight age of Group Discussions and Personal Interview is 15% each. Those students getting highest in aggregate of written test, group discussions and personal interview are offered admission in the college. For more information, please contact the institute. |

ABOUT THE INSTITUTE : M S Patel Institute of Management Studies was established in 1984 to make a distinct contribution to advanced management education and research in the city of Vadodara. During 1995, it increased its intake from 30 to 40, and in 1997 introduced a 3-Year MBA Evening Programme. The institute is rated among top 30 Indian B-Schools with A+ grade, positioning itself among top 5 management institutes run by Universities, by Business India in 2000, and also appreciated by Business Today 2000, securing position among top 10 B-schools on certain parameters.
