CAMPUS & ACADEMIC FACILITIES

Accommodation/Hostel Facilities : The PGPM course requires considerable study & preparatory work in small groups beyond the class-room sessions.  All students are required to stay on campus and would be provided with accommodation.  The hostel accommodation will have to be vacated by the students as soon as the III/VI term are over.

Recreation : For the sports person in every manager, MDI maintains a golf course, floodlit badminton courts and facilities for indoor games like table tennis. Cricket, Football, Lawn Tennis and Frisbee are some of the other popular games. There are a number of in-house competitions which finally culminate in an annual sports meet involving the students, faculty and staff at MDI.

Catering / Mess : The institute has a full fledged mess for its PGPM students.  It also runs a separate mess for NMP and another one for the MDP participants.

Computing  : MDI has a state-of-the art computing facility consisting of 200 PC nodes, 3 IBM Pentium based servers and one IBM RISC Server connected on a high speed optic fibre/UTP based network in a distributed windows/NT/95/98 and UNIX environment.  All these nodes have access to the internet through 1 MBPS leased line.  Application software like MS-Office, MS-Project, Primavera, Success Planned, Oracle 8, SPSS, SQL Server, etc. are extensively used.  Facilities for printing include high speed laser 4000N network and ink jet printers.  Campus wide network using optical fibre backbone structured cabling systems has been setup, which provide intra as well as internet connectivity to all computers of faculty, students, administration and library.  A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed with the BaaN Institute of Hyderabad to setup a Centre for Excellence in Enterprise Applications under which BaaN ERP software has been installed in MDI Computer Centre. The centre will provide training to students on ERP and conduct research in ERP Applications in Indian Industry.  Future plans include setting up a competency centre on Electronic Commerce, collaborative learning centre under intranet and internet environment.

Library : MDI library has a collection of over 50,000 volumes, which includes 6020 bound volumes of periodicals.  325 current periodicals are subscribed regularly.  Additionally, the collection contains press clippings, statistical publications, annual reports of top private and public sector companies and financial institutions, case studies, working papers, reprints, microfilms, educational video-films etc.  Keeping in tune with the times the Library has created a computerised database of 27,800 books and 56,000 articles using CDS/ISIS software. Catalogue cards are also generated through the computer.  In the near future, it is proposed to computerise other activities of the Library as well, such as: circulation, periodicals registration, acquisition of books, etc.  The Library also subscribes to CMIE Corporate Database called 'Prowess' in electronic form.  It is shortly going to add "EBSCO-Elite" full text database covering 860 Journals, and "Induscope" and "Market Forecasts and Indicators 1997-2007" – the two databases on Industrial Statistics.  The library is also going to be linked with Delhi Network of Libraries (DELNT).  The internet facility is already available.  The Library regularly issues weekly current awareness bulletins covering new books and articles appearing in current periodicals. This is the most widely appreciated and utilised service of the Library.  Literature searches, compilation of bibliographies, circulation and reference services, photocopying are other services which the Library provides.  Working executives and companies can also become members of the library through a Membership Scheme against payment of a nominal fee and a security deposit.
