ABOUT THE INSTITUTE
In 1985, Pondicherry University was established as a Central University by an Act of Parliament to fulfill, on innovative lines, the aspirations of people. Located in a salubrious, even climate, sprawling campus, spread over 788 acres on the East Coast Road, the University is easily accessible from Madras (160 kms) and Bangalore (350 kms). A School of Excellence, the School of Management was established in Pondicherry University with recognition from All India Board of Management Studies, All India Council for Technical Education and University Grants Commission.

CAMPUS & ACADEMIC FACILITIES

Accommodation/Hostel Facilities : At the time of admission the students are expected to carry about Rs.4000/- to be paid Hostel Admission fee and other deposits. At present the room rent is Rs.70/- per month and the board expenses (breakfast, lunch and dinner) are on a cost-sharing basis. A student committee operates this. At present the mess bill is around Rs.1000/- per month.

Recreation : The campus is endowed with a one kilometre long and fifteen feet deep natural ravine winding its way into the sea. Trekking along this ravine is a tremendously humanising experience. Cricket, Table Tennis, Beach Volley Ball, Chess, Carrom.....are some of the games the prospective managers play.

Catering/Mess : The School of Management has an exclusive hostel on the campus for the MBA students with an access to outdoor activities and games. It has separate hostel for the girls and boys and has its own common-room and dining facilities. The School also has a canteen in addition to the hostel mess.

Health and Welfare : The university has a dispensary attached to it. This has permanent doctors, clinic with beds, nurses & pharmacy. Further the Union territory boasts of having JIPMER in the state.

Computing : 13 computer terminals are available for students with management related software.

Library : Library holdings consists of 2000 books in Department and 94,500 books in General Library. It consists of 25 journals in Department and 204 Foreign and 218 Indian journals in General Library

Any graduate (atleast 10+2+3 pattern) of a recognised University in India or abroad is eligible. This includes those who are appearing for the final year of their degree examinations of April-May. They however, have to produce at the time of admission, their Degree Certificate or Provisional Degree Certificate or Pass Certificate for degree in original. Some grace period may be allowed in exceptional cases.

Step 1	Selection is based entirely on merit. The process comprises of written test, Group Discussion and Interview.
Step 2	The written test will be held in centres like : Bangalore, Baroda, Calcutta, Calicut, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Nagpur, Pondicherry, Thiruvananthapuram and Vishakapattnam. The test is of objective type. Those shortlised on the basis of written test will be called to Pondicherry to take part in Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
Step 3	Selection is made based on the combined scores of all the three test, GD and interview.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

Fee payable to the School is as follows :

Tuition fee for the complete course (1998-2000) is Rs.22,000 (4 Semesters) with an additional examination fees of Rs.4000 (subject to revision)
