ABOUT THE INSTITUTE : In response to the growing need for managerial capacity in the region of Northern Rajasthan, and to specifically foster management education amongst girls, Shri A.V. Jain Girls College, Institute of Management and Technology, was established in 2000 in the prosperous city of Sriganganagar. The young Institute is founded by the Shri A.V. Jain Shiksha Nyas and claims excellent infrastructure and facilities for its semester-based, two year full time MBA programme, affiliated to Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University, Ajmer. The institute also undertakes research and consultancy in the area of management, and conducts entrepreneurship development programmes. Besides providing a sound foundation in management theory with its practical applications, the programme also inculcates an appreciation for core Indian ethos, philosophy, and values..

CAMPUS & ACADEMIC FACILITIES

Any graduate with 50% marks is eligible to apply to our institute. Candidates from SC/ ST / OBC are allowed even if they have 45% marks. The admission process is regulated by RMAT (Rajasthan Management Aptitute Test)-the details can be seen and downloaded from www.rmat.org. The RMAT 2001 test would be held on June 10, 2001 The last date for obtaining form is May 15, 2001 and the last date for sending the completed form is May 26, 2001.

ACADEMIC STAFF

ELIGIBILITY

Step 1

Interested candidate must appear in RMAT 2001. The candidates securing 36% or more (72 marks out of 200) marks in the written test (RMAT) will be eligiblefor appearing in Group Discussion  (GD) and Personal Interview(PI) (at the cost of candidate). The GD and PI are essential components of RMAT process. The final merit list would be prepared on the basis of aggregate marks obtaind in the written test, the marks obtained in Group discussion , and Personal Interview and would be declared with in 2 days after the completion of GD/PI exercise, the merit list will be displayed.

Step 2

After GD/PI exercise, the candidate would be required to attend counseling session, the date(s) and venue of which will be announced during the course of GD/PI exercise. In the counseling session, admission offer for any of the Institutions listed in the bulletin would be made on the basis of your position in the final merit list. The would be required to deposit the fee of the Institution for which the admission is offered to you. If the candidate does not turn up in time or does not deposit the fees, through demand draft, the candidature will be cancelled.

NOTE : The examination system is annual - but the studes are carried out in semester system. There are seven papers in each semester and each student has to appear for two Mid-session tests (MST) in each papers besides final written examination.
There is viva also. Each student has to appear in two viva - one internal and one external in each paper - the external viva is common for all papers and fielf visit study / dissertation.
Each student is required to deliver a seminar on any topic of her interest. Each student is further required to make presentations of field visit studies, summer training report and dissertation. The presentation is critically evaluated by faculty and students.
There is 360 degree performance appraisal for each students. 30% marks are reserved for internal evaluation - which are distributed as follows :
6 marks -  class participation and involvement
6 marks - internal viva
10 marks - MST (two MST are held per paper)
8 marks - peer appraisal on performance parameters
(which are specified and measurable)

Accommodation/Hostel Facilities : The institute's own hostel is under construction and it would be ready in the next few months. However, there are enough private hostels for girls in the city. At present residential accommodation to the outstation students is available in a well-developed workingwomen's hostel. Plans are underway to have a hostel with modern residential facilities by the beginning of academic session 2001-2002.

Recreation : The institute has a vast campus (8 acres land). The institute is developing sports complexes. The institute has started in the year 2000 only hence, except badminton court other outdoor games are not available at present, but would be available soon. The institute has facilities for most of the indoor games. The institute lays greater emphasis on moral and spiritual development of its students. Therefore there is greater emphasis on overall development. The students are encouraged to read inspirational biographies, stories, narratives, great texts like Bhagwad Gita etc. the students exchange their readings periodically and discuss important issues relating to life and self management..

Catering/Mess : The institute has a canteen within the campus of the institute. A hostel is under construction, and would be ready by July 2001 which would contain 24 mess, computer lab, and other amenities required by MBA participants.

Health and Welfare : The institute has first aid facilities and all necessary provisions for good health and welfare of students. Free medical checkups are carried out once in a year. The institute has ZERO-B installed at all drinking water facilities. There are generous scholarships available for students. Important funding agencies that have lined up scholarships for students are : SUMEGHA FOUNDAITON, JAIPUR RAICHAND JAIN FOUNDATION, SRIGANGANAGAR S.J. JINDAL TRUST, NEW DELHI. All the students are elibible for these scholarships. The amount of scholarships range from Rs. 50000 per annum to Rs. 5000 per annum (depending on requirements of the candidate). The institute's book bank provides all the necessary books to MBA participants (each student is issued 13 books)

Computing : The Institute has a modern Computer lab. with latest equipments. 17 Pentiums, 6 UPS, 3 CVT etc. and internet connection. Computer workstations and network are constantly updated with the advanced technology, hence providing the students and faculty an enthralling opportunity to blend minds with machines. All the computers are connected via a Local Area Network (LAN) using Windows NT platform. A dial-up TCP/IP. Internet connection can be  rocessed from all terminals in the campus. All the students and the faculty members have been provided with individual E-mail ID. The entire system is supported by GAMUT of latest software like the V.B.6., besides MS Office 97 windows NT 4 Server, Windows NT 4.0 workstation, Internet Explorer 4.0 and Database Management System.

Library : The institute Library has a rich collection of Indian and International literature in addition to over 3000 books in different discipline of management, 30 renowned journals such as, Vikalpa, Decision, Vision, A&M, Journal of Human Values, Journal of Entrepreneurship, Indian Management, Economic and Political Weekly Indian Journal of Industrial Relations, Foreign Trade Journal, World Bank Review, NMIM Management Review, Bikaner Journal of Management etc. The library also has a rich collection of ancient Indian texts, books on Gita, Indian ethos, books on Jain philosophy and other books for moral and spiritual development of MBA participants. Management is going to convert it into the digital library in which it will be fully computerized, giving each student an ID and password that help them to search and reserve books while sitting in the computer lab or library itself. Library has a collection of more than 75 CDs. and annual reports of 150 companies. The library has internet facility also which helps students to browse e-zines and online journals. At present the library is located in the campus, but there are plans to soon develop a separate building for library adjacent to the academic block of the institute. There is a section for faculty / students's papers in library also - where in the faculty-members / students place their articles for reading / sharing by others. Soon the institute shall be developing its own publications - Bhagawan Maveer International Management Review and Pragya Features - based on its collections of articles received from students and other faculty.
