This vision culminated in the establishment of BHARATHIDASAN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT (BIM) in active partnership with Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Tiruchirappalli and the Bharathidasan University.

BIM
- an organization which is committed to excellence since inception and this philosophy pervades in every aspect of this institution. BIM offers one of the most coveted MBA programs in India.  The Program attracts people with diverse backgrounds, career interests and aspirations but who have one thing in common; an interest in learning and a desire to equip themselves for challenging managerial positions in the corporate world. Entry to this course is regulated through a rigorous selection process.  BIM is proud of its excellent placement record across various organizations.

OUR PHILOSOPHY AND CULTURE

Excellence implies setting high standards and surpassing it as a continuous process and maintains consistently high academic standards.  The students are given an in-depth exposure to all management disciplines, and close liaison with business and industry is inbuilt into the curriculum.

BIM provides the right ambience for the students to nurture their personal and professional skills. The Institute lays emphasis on grooming students as responsible citizens with righteous behavior reflecting the core values of the rich Indian tradition. This principle is strongly grounded on the belief that individuals who would be managers or leaders will be the power centers of the future, should have control over themselves and empathy towards all life forms.

OUR GOAL

MBA is the primary focus in BIM and hence all its resource and energy is focused in the programme.  On the curriculum development trajectory there is an academic review which takes place yearly to meet the requirements of the industry. Course corrections are also common during the academic year.

BIM's MBA program is designed to produce skilled managers, effective leaders and responsible citizens capable of succeeding in any type of business organizations, large, small, private, public and non-profit.  At BIM, we achieve this through a rigorous admission process that ensures qualified and motivated students join the institute.  Here the emphasis is on helping the students in acquiring various cutting edge skills.

All other activities that are carried out by BIM like management development programmes, consultancy assignments, case development, research, etc. are aimed at improving the quality of input given to the MBA students.

At BIM everyone constantly strives for excellence, i.e.
'Perfection in Action', and this makes all the difference.

BIM's POST-GRADUATE PROGRAMME

The full time two-year Post Graduate Program at Bharathidasan Institute of Management leads to the award of an M.B.A. degree by the Bharathidasan University. The program is spread over six trimesters over the two years. All the subjects in the first year are compulsory and the students are exposed to the core courses in the functional areas of Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, Information Systems and Operations. This provides the students a rigorous grounding in all areas of management.

Offering over forty electives the second year operates on a cafeteria approach where the students are given the choice of choosing from a range of electives across the five functional areas to pursue their interests. Experienced professionals like Dr. T.V. Subramanian, Management Consultant, Chennai, Shri T. Mohandoss, Director Sun Micro Systems, Bangalore, Shri R. Sridhar M.D., Brand.Comm, Bangalore, Dr. R. Karthikeyan, Director, Gemba Consulting, Chennai, Shri R. Kumar Business Head, SRF Ltd., Trichy and Shri N. Chandrasekaran Head CII Institute of Logistics, Shri G. Ramakrishna AGM Materials, BHEL, Trichy are some of our regular visiting faculty handling the elective courses on our campus. Our elective courses are being handled by over fifty visiting faculty who give the students the right blend of industry insights and academic inputs and prepare them to face the challenges in the workplace by equipping them with the contemporary happenings in industry. ATTITUDE DETERMINES ALTITUDE

A workshop, which would help a student understand self and others and in the process change ones attitude and behavior pattern. The institute makes it a point for students to go through the PERSONAL GROWTH LAB (PGL) to sensitize them to team work.

Teamwork and therefore groups has been increasingly the focus of attention for a wide variety of reasons for quite sometime now.  On one hand– Organisations require harnessing the synergy available only in groups, on the other hand individuals require the group both to work in and work with for their (personal) growth and development.  This trend towards groups being a focal point attention is understandable.

Against such a scenario B-Schools have an increasingly challenging though unenviable task.  They need to provide the industry this rare combination. Industry wants to be infused with such fresh blood, preferably youthful.  This intake is to be simultaneously empowered as well as capable team players.  Only then will they translate into potential leaders for later years.

Students are taken through a 3-day module, focused on,

* Awareness of the self for personal effectiveness;
* Awareness of the other for interpersonal effectiveness;
* Awareness of the group for group effectiveness

The journey as a series of workshops opens out an entirely unexplored avenue for performance and productivity at personal and social dimensions,

This new meaning finds both form and expression in our
PGL workshops.
