Location
The institute is located at Modinagar (in UP within NCR) on the National Highway - 58 (connecting Delhi-Meerut- Dehradun) and is at a distance of about 32 kms from Delhi border.

Accreditation
Our Two-year full time Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) program (equivalent to MBA) offered by CMD has been approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) an autonomous accrediting body of Ministry of Human Resource Development of Government of India.

The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) have accorded their approval to our PGDM programme as equivalent to MBA.

PGDM PROGRAMME

CAMPUS & ACADEMIC FACILITIES

INFRASTRUCTURE: The present academic complex spread over 5 acres has spacious lecture halls, multiple conference rooms, a state-of- the-art computer centre, a modern library and an auditorium with a capacity of 600 persons. The complex also provides comfortable accommodation to students in hostels and to visitors in well furnished air-conditioned guest-rooms. The infrastructure facilitates the institute's oft stated aim of nurturing the future generation of business managers.
This is a residential programme and therefore, hostel accommodation is compulsory.

LIBRARY: The well stocked automated library with adequate reading room facilities is the nerve centre of the institute where students gain access to all forms of published knowledge. Library has over 20,000 volumes. It has Electronic Journal Server (EJ server) for 460 online journals and more than 116 management journals including hard bound and business magazines as well. Multiple copies of various types of newspapers & all leading newspapers are subscribed and it is repository of rare collections. Library is fully automated and has software for university library (SOUL).
The library with its stimulating and intellectual environment is a heavenly refuge for those engaged in intellectual pursuits. The intensity of its environment is a motivation for those wishing to benefit from ever expanding frontiers of knowledge.

COMPUTER CENTRE: Institute has a state-of-the-art computer centre equipped with over 180 individual nodes with high speed processor on LAN having Window Operating System and an IBM AS400 server. The software library is continuously updated and various key softwares available are UNIX, Novell Netware, Windows NT, Windows 2000, OFFICE XP, Oracle 8i, TURBO C, JAVA, J2EE SERVER, VB, POWER BUILDER, DEVELOPER 2000, ANALYST, etc.
The computer centre also has 1.5 Mbps high speed internet connectivity using a dedicated VSAT station, enabling the faculty and students to link up with the outside world uninterruptedly. A standby of 1Mbps ISDN connectivity is also available.
The computer network is complemented with a host of ink-jet and laser printers, scanner and other support peripherals.

HOSTELS: The institute offers excellent hostel facilities to all its students. Separate girls and boys hostels have various recreational facilities besides congenial living accommodation. They not only compensate for lack of 'home environment' but are also conducive to the fulfillment of their ambitions.
Both the hostels are provided with gymnasium to enable students to unwind at their leisure. The hostels are provided with internet, reading material & various outdoor/indoor game facilities. The hostel is managed by students' representatives who decide weekly menus & operation/addition of amenities, etc.
The hostel accommodation is compulsory for every student.

FROM THE DESK OF THE DIRECTOR

With great pleasure I welcome you to the "Centre for Management Development" (CMD) a flagship institution of Dr. K.N. Modi Foundation Modinagar 201204 (India) - with clear vision to set benchmark in the field of Management  Education since 1983 in north India produces quality professionals with holistic approach and Indian ethical values.  The CMD is approved by AICTE, Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India.

I need not emphasize the infra-structural and academic facilities available with CMD.  Wi-fi campus with air condition class rooms with LCD projectors and e-library are the basic facilities with separate hostels for boys and girls.  At our CMD we have faculty having very rich industry and high academic experience. The interface between theory and practice, and guided industry visits make it easy for students to relate to the teaching-learning environment.

Vide its letter no. EV/II (914) / 2003 / 327 dated 10th Oct, 2003, the Association of Indian Universities New Delhi (AIU) approved CMD's PGDM programme equivalent to MBA and the students of this programme can appear in NET or/& pursue Ph.D.   The extension of this approval  has been granted vide its letter no. EV/II(914)/2010/ dated 2nd July,2010 valid for three years.

The PGDM programme also had accreditation of NBA.  CMD also has ISO 9001 : 2008 certification.

The 100% placement record speaks louder than the legitimate claim which any B-school can make.  The CMD gives 100% placement assistance to the trainees which starts in the 3rd semester.

CURRICULUM

* candidate requires to apply for AIMA's written test MAT. Applications for MAT test are available with: All India Management Association, 14-Institutional Area, Lodhi Road, New Delhi-110 003 and at their counters as per MAT entrances test notification.
* candidate has to apply separately for admissions to CMD on the Application Form with this prospectus and send it to CMD, Modinagar along with duly attested copies of mark-sheet of graduation examination. The completed Application Form should reach CMD one week before MAT examination schedule.
* Applicants are advised to carefully verify their own eligibility before applying for admission, as fees will not be refunded even if a candidate is found ineligible.
* For admission to PGDM Course in CMD:
i) Applicant should be a graduate in any discipline. (Candidates appearing for final year's exam can also apply.)
ii) Candidates who have appeared/ are appearing in MAT/CAT/GMAT examination are eligible to apply. Candidates will be short-listed based on their performance in MAT/CAT/GMAT and Graduation examination. Short-listed candidates shall be called for Group Discussion and Interview at CMD, Modinagar.
iii) Applications for entrance to AIMA and for admission to CMD must be complete in all respect. Incomplete applications will be rejected and fees are not refundable.

Admission Procedure

The candidates short listed on the basis of their score in MAT or other such tests undergo Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) at CMD.
The evaluation criteria include:

* Communication Skills,
* Leadership Qualities,
* Conceptual Ability, and
* Decision Making Capabilities.

The candidates successful in these tests are offered admission in institute's PGDM course to be further developed as excellent management professionals.

ELIGIBILITY

For systematic learning, the programme is broken into four semesters, each comprising of a set of detailed courses. The curriculum is imparted through the interdisciplinary thrust and participatory learning experience.

Since knowledge and skills are subject to an accelerated rate of obsolescence in a rapidly changing environment, curriculum design at CMD is dynamic. To take this into account, periodic syllabus review is undertaken. The curriculum last revised and approved by academic council in July 2004 has inputs from industry through professionals and our alumni, as well as, renowned academicians from IIMs and FMS (Delhi), etc.

Accordingly, students also receive focused inputs about emerging fields in management domain. Some of these are: ERP® module, Customer Relationship Management (eCRM), Retail Management and eRetailing, Supply Chain Management, Rural Marketing, Insurance and Actuarial Science, Computerized Financial Packages, ISO 9000 and QS 14000 Specifications, etc.

The First Year

The first two semesters are designed to build a foundation in the core areas of business encompassing Accounting, Finance, Economics, Marketing, Operations Research, Operations Management, Business Communication, Organizational Behavioural and HR, Informatics and System Design. These meticulously planned courses in various functional areas of management provide the student a solid foundation and prepares them to undertake their specialization modules. It also provides them profound insights into the corporate environment which ensures that students make a career choice that best suits their ability and proficiency.

For personal grooming, students are exposed to specialized in personality and memory development and meditation.

Summer Training

All PGDM students after the completion of first two semesters undergo 8 weeks' summer-internship with leading industrial and business organizations. The idea behind summer internship is to constructively expose the students to the nuances of one's chosen stream and to give the student a feel of organizational milieu. This is in harmony with CMD's philosophy of interaction with the industry. At the end of the summer training, the students are confident individuals who are aware of the implications and future prospects of their chosen area of specializations

The Second Year
 
In the second year besides core courses students are offered dual specialization in functional areas of their choice. The functional areas include marketing, finance, human resources and information technology. The electives in each functional area are designed to impart expertise in specific areas and equip the students in dealing with complex and diverse managerial situations. The course structure of the second year requires the students to undertake a project in the last semester under the direct guidance of the faculty and/or corporate leaders. This unique feature of CMD's curriculum helps the students in assimilating their courses thoroughly and test their learning in actual business settings; thus ensuring a smooth entry in the corporate world

The Winter Project

In the final semester the student is required to take up a five weeks' project in the area of specialization. This project provides the student an exhaustive interaction necessary for a comprehensive study of a topic having practical implications in corporate life. It requires them to be in constant touch with one or more companies in an industry and various illustrious faculties. The bottom line of the approach is to imbibe a profound understanding of the corporate environment.

Pedagogy

Our teaching methodology consists of an optimum mix of lectures, group discussions, seminars, case discussions, programmed learning assignments, presentations, business games, role plays and live industrial projects, etc. Students are taken for industrial visits for a closer look at the implementation of management concepts. In teaching a conscious effort is made to enable all round development of the student and the emphasis is to mould the students to meet all round industrial and business.

Dual Specialization

Under the programme, a student has an option to choose from any of the four functional areas as specialization i.e. marketing, finance, human resource and information technology. (Specialization will be offered only on enrolment of at least 10 students for a particular course)

Apart from a major specialization the students can also take any of these fields as dual specialization. This calls for higher level of efforts on the part of students as the rigor of the course is not diluted in case of dual specialization and students undertake the same course work as a majoring student. This effectively converts the additional course as a dual major.

Research Studies

In order to facilitate students an insight into practical business environment, research study projects are undertaken by the students under the guidance of faculty members. Constant feedback from corporate personalities is actively solicited. This enhances the students' understanding of the specifics of the subject and also enriches their spectrum of experiences and enables a correlation between the theory and its applicability in business settings.

Case Inputs

The curriculum of the programme is well supplemented with case studies in all papers, with the objective of honing decision making skills of the students. This stimulates the thought process in students and provides them an opportunity for decision making under simulated environment.

Industrial Interaction

The institute has an enviable record of interaction with business and industry, particularly through seminars, guest lectures, summer training and winter projects. The cardinal aim is to make our education 'industrially and socially germane' utilizing the input from business and industry. Moreover, it gives students a perspective to function in a corporate environment.

The institute offers a two-year full time Post Graduate Diploma in Management. The programme is recognized as equivalent to MBA by the All Indian Council for Technical Education (AICTE) - an autonomous body under the Ministry of HRD, Government of India & the AIU (Association of Indian Universities).

It is a noteworthy fact that the PGDM students of the institute has gained wide recognition from the industry by the sheer dint of the efforts of the 2500 CMDians.
